Literature research AI

As in many other areas of university life, AI has also found its way into literature research.

Library course

The THWS library offers a training course on "AI tools for literature research". You can find the dates for the training course in our course calendar.

AI-assisted tools

The following AI-supported tools for research are offered by the THWS library:

ScopusAI

ScopusAI is a tool that can output summaries of scientific topics using a language model. The data basis for this is the holdings of the Scopus platform, i.e. all content from the publisher Elsevier.

Statista Research AI

Statista's Research AI is based on all content on the Statista platform, i.e. first and foremost verified statistics. The language model is designed to facilitate analysis.

HAWKI

HAWKI offers university-wide access to ChatGPT. However, this is not an "academic" application, but a chatbot without a separate data basis. It is therefore not possible to search for specific literature with certainty, as hallucinations, i.e. content and literature references "invented" by ChatGPT, may occur. Instead, the application can be used to find search terms for research, for example.

Expertise

In December 2024, an AI working group of Bavarian libraries at universities of applied sciences was founded. It will monitor the highly dynamic market and support the management conference of university libraries with information and recommendations for action. The THWS library also sends a representative to the AI working group.
